GlobalPhone expands its customer base with the acquisition of General Packet Hosted PBX business
General Packet’s Board of Directors recently made the strategic decision to focus on its networking business and voted to sell its voice business to GlobalPhone, a company dedicated to voice services. Hosted PBX and SIP trunking is the primary business of GlobalPhone. General Packet management will assist with the transition to ensure a smooth transition of service. General Packet began marketing Voice Services in 2006 and now serves several hundred corporate customers with Hosted PBX and SIP Trunk services. Both companies operate compatible BroadSoft switch technology. General Packet will continue to use GlobalPhone voice services and partner with GlobalPhone to refer customers.
Stephen McCarthy, President of GlobalPhone Corp. lauded the agreement by saying “We look forward to supporting General Packet’s customers. With this acquisition, GlobalPhone continues to expand its customer base of Hosted PBX users. This helps us achieve economies of scale that will let us compete effectively on a nationwide basis in this evolving market”.
Dennis DiBattista, General Packet President, stated “Our hosted PBX customers will be satisfied with a high level of service because GlobalPhone is has a strong reputation for customer service. This agreement lets us focus on the networking side of our business and frees up some cash for our business expansion. Overall it’s a good situation for both companies.”
